My husband and I are on the road. A friend is getting remarried this weekend and there was no way my husband was going to miss this event.
We are going someplace I haven’t been in a long time — Ohio. I was born there and still have some family in the area.
It’s funny how things come flowing back to you just from visual cues. I remember places we ate, vacationed, visited — like it was yesterday. That’s funny because most days I can’t remember what I walked into a room for, but I can vividly remember getting sick while out in my Dad’s small fishing boat at Conneaut Lake as a youngster.
I’ve got a list of places we will visit. My old homes, family graves, Finnish bakeries!! We are spending an afternoon with my Aunt, who I haven’t seen in years, and do some catching up. I haven’t seen her since before my Mom, her sister passed, so we have much to share.
It’s not a long trip, but a great mental break for me! And I just love traveling down memory lane. My husband is so happy to spend this time with old friends. I was excited to find a Chick-fil-A on the way.
We are happy to be taking a short trip together! That is the best part of all!
